High-Performance, Strong, Sustainable Wooden Surfboards

At Varuna, we craft high-performance, sustainable wooden surfboards grown in Indonesia and designed by industry legends.

But we’re not your typical wooden surfboard. We believe that sustainability and performance are no longer mutually exclusive. And at its core, our mission is guided by a planet-first mindset. We work directly with shapers to replicate their innovative designs consciously, ensuring the quality and performance of the Varuna construction rivals its PU counterpart. This gives you an epic ride you can feel good about both in and out of the water.

Testimonials

“What sparked my interest in Varuna was their Seed to Surf story and helping the communities in Indonesia and then coming out with an eco friendly product which I haven’t done before.” Stuart D’Arcy

“6'4 Maurice Cole Twin Pin: I rode this 6’4 in pretty solid 6 foot surf and for me to ride a 6’4 in waves that big is a bit of a gamble because it’s a pretty small board for me to ride and especially a twin fin. Surprisingly enough the board held in really well and it felt really drivey and springy. One of the other key things I did find about the board, and I don’t think I would have gotten this out of the PU, was this certain sort of energy that the board has in different parts of the wave. It’s hard to explain, it’s like the board springs or thrusts through certain stages where I’ve never felt that in other boards before.” Brenden ‘Margo’ Margieson

"Riding a bunch of different shapes and sizes in the Varuna technology. I’m really impressed on how they performed on both waves of consequences and on the funner softer days. The alternative construction holds up a lot better than the average PU construction which is pretty rad. It’s cool to ride a board that feel like it would last a lifetime & not have to worry about pressure dinging or snapping." Kayu Vianna
