Maurice has secretly been with us from the start, behind the scenes and guiding us with his knowledge of structure and the intricate minutiae that takes a board from “meh” to “holy f*ck this thing goes good.”

For the last 50 years, Maurice Cole has made a name for himself as a disruptive force of creative genius in the surfing world, churning out shapes that defy everything we think we know about surfboard design. His boards have won world titles and have been ridden by some of surfing’s best, and as one of the industry’s most esteemed designers, he sculpts his boards with a sense of alchemy, eccentricity and a deep, philosophical understanding of wave mechanics.

He believes that like anything in life, we are all surfers of varying abilities. Some of us prefer cruisey sessions in easy waves, while others are happy to compete for surf. Some aren’t comfortable in big waves, while others thrive on challenging conditions. There is no right and wrong. There is virtue in all approaches and Maurice believes there’s room for everyone.
