Maurice Cole, Jared Mell and Kayu Vianna take Varuna to JBay
After a string of premieres in Bali and along the East Coast of Australia Varuna Surfboards are proud to unlock the film Sticks and Stones for YouTube subscribers.
Sticks and Stones follows the journey of Jared Mell and Kayu Vianna, under the guidance of Maurice Cole, to surf Jeffreys Bay in South Africa.
Jared and Kayu travelled from Bali with 6 Varuna surfboards in sizes from 5'4 to 7'6 and tested them through rising swells at JBay. These two weeks travelling South Africa opened Jared and Kayu's eyes to the raw beauty of the people, wildlife and waves and left a lasting impact.
This was a bucket list trip for Maurice Cole and his guidance through each twist and turn made this adventure and film what it is.
“It was windy, the water was brown, it was cold and miserable. The boys were complaining a little bit then Kayu went up the point and he was riding a 7’4 Twin Pin of mine and he pulled into this thing!.”
