Just a head’s up that Varuna team members are just a bunch of surfers who love the environment, want to make sure it’s protected and surf every chance we get.
In short, we love to surf and genuinely give a shit.
The brains behind our little operation, Tom’s passion for woodworking has led him to pursue alternative surfboard shaping. Based in Belgium, his activism for business-based conservation has inspired our greater vision: to revitalize the planet by doing what we love.
Growing up immersed in the surfing industry and impassioned by the environment, Damien has transformed Varuna from an idea into a dream realized. When he’s not working on Varuna, he can be found saving Australian coastlines as a National Campaign Manager for Surfrider Foundation.
Our Frenchie is a force to be reckoned with. Driven by entrepreneurial creativity, environmental protection and surfing's sustainable future, these pillars give rhythm to his life (that, and his epic DJ skills).
A California girl at heart with a deep love for ocean protection, Lauren’s wordsmithing has breathed life into our Varuna story. Growing up, she always wanted to be a mermaid, and surfing has gotten her as close as can be to making that dream a reality.
With experience working for Quikie and Channel Islands, Dylan’s knowledge across the surf industry is unparalleled. When he’s not managing our production line, our Bali-based Aussie has the toughest job of all - product tester. As in, he gets to surf every one of our boards on epic waves to make sure they rip. With a keen eye for design and a passion for sustainable and ethical brands, Sarah has positively nailed it when it came to creating our Varuna logo and branding. A lady slider herself, when she’s not in her studio, she can be found cruising on mellow waves at her local point break.
Thanks to Brigitte, our books are squeaky clean and her emails always feel like a big, warm hug from mom. We’re a family business, and proud of it.
Our expert craftsmen design with their hands, head and heart, creating a source of sustainability accessible to surfers everywhere. We wouldn’t be here without them, and couldn’t do what we do without their ingenuity, innovation and most of all, their smiles.
